To kick off Earth Month, we're partnering with TreePeople for a special workshop on Native and Climate-Appropriate Gardening, tailored specifically to North American ecosystems.

Join us on Wednesday, April 2nd at 11 am PDT (2 pm EDT)  where we'll be streaming live from the SM Farmhouse! 

In this workshop, you'll learn:

• The ecological and practical benefits of gardening with species suited to North America’s diverse climate zones.

• How to select plants that support local wildlife, conserve water, and thrive with minimal maintenance.

• Practical tips and techniques for planting and maintaining native species.

• How to contribute to a healthier planet right in your own backyard (or balcony!).

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just starting out, this workshop is a great opportunity to learn how to positively impact our environment.

About the Speaker: Loren Feder

 Born and raised in Los Angeles, Loren is a passionate advocate for natural climate solutions. After graduating from George Washington University in 2018 with a B.A. in Environmental Science and minors in Geography and Sustainability, she was eager to make an environmental impact in her community back at home. In 2021, she started her career at TreePeople in the Mountain Forestry department. For the next 2 years, she worked to restore areas affected by the Woolsey Fire and hosted public volunteer events. She loves teaching others to become environmental stewards in their community. In 2024, Loren became a certified California Naturalist through UC Berkeley. Loren continues her work at TreePeople as the Program Manager for Teams for Trees, organizing corporate engagement events to connect teams with TreePeople’s volunteer work in ecological restoration, trail maintenance, and tree planting.
