Happy Nowruz GumGum πŸŽ‰

Nowruz is a traditional Iranian festival that marks the first day of the New Year (the beginning of spring). It is celebrated by people of various ethnic backgrounds, including Persian, Kurdish, Azerbaijani, and others. It is characterised by feasting, dancing, music, and the exchange of gifts.

In the UK, we hosted a Nowruz Lunch at the infamous Persian restaurant, Berenjak, hosted by our very own Kamran Vahabi. Kamran taught us about the common traditions around Nowruz, including gathering around the haft seen, a traditional table setting of seven symbolic items which represent spring and the coming of a new year. We also exchanged traditional, middle eastern gifts and enjoyed great conversations and laughs.

No matter what traditions are observed, Nowruz is a time to come together, appreciate nature, and express gratitude for the blessings of the past year and share gifts, which is exactly how we celebrated, have a look below πŸ‘‡ .
